Our reporters have been in China for this long weekend keeping a jump ahead of the “black Friday” crowds with sightseeing and perusing art galleries. And, while shopping is a must, the main attractions were focusing on the cities of Shanghai and Beijing.
First on the list of sites is the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall located in Beijing’s Huairou District. These fortifications were built mainly of granite, wood, stone and other materials found around the countryside during construction. The primary purpose of this structure was border control, but there are intermittent watchtowers and garrison stations that were used to monitor goods transported during the Silk Road. The mountains are also a spectacular backdrop plus a natural defensive barrier.
Stay tuned for more,

Stunning photos. I absolutely love the first pic capturing the mountains in the background. These are really cool pics. Nice job by the reporters. Excellent post with, as always, a snippet of history facts.
