Shanghai

Periodically a few of us at Heath embark on a journey to Shanghai and Singapore to take in the architectural wonders, a bit of art, secure an idea or two from the cultivated gardens, and to take part in shopping sprees. But, all that aside there is nothing like enjoying the view of the city from these spectacular buildings. {Pudong landmarks and skyline}

Buildings arise on both sides of the Huangpu River, and we are on the eastside opposite the Bund, known as the Pudong district. This financial district has a most impressive skyline that includes the world’s highest observation deck located in the Shanghai World Financial Center. In two of these photos one can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, which is also a TV tower and was at one time the tallest structure in China, until Financial Center was built in 2007.

Virginia’s Eastern Shore

Next, we are traveling east over the Chesapeake Bay to Chincoteague Island where Paul and Maria spent a few days swimming, biking and pony watching.

After doing a bit of research on this quaint town located on Virginia’s eastern shore, I found the historical aspect of the region was a draw for most tourists, along with riding or walking the trails that lead from Chincoteague to Assateague Island.

Here is a list of must see items while in this area.

  1. Wild Ponies
    Here ponies run wild along the shores or swim across the channel when the tide is calm.
  2. Assateague Lighthouse
    Built in 1833 and located on the Virginia portion of Assateague Island. Lights can be seen 19 miles out to sea, and this structure is placed on the National Register of Historic places.
  3. Sunset Cruises
    Sit back and enjoy unbelievable views of Assateague’s wild ponies, dolphins and other wildlife while on these boat cruises. The sunset nature cruises offers a spectacular way to experience the beauty of this area.
