Taj Mahal and Red Fort {Agra}

Taj Mahal #2 IMG_3279My brother Sean and dearest family friend Tony have been traveling throughout the Middle East over the last week and have been transmitting captivating photographs with regular write-ups regarding their adventures. As two on the spot reporters for Stylish Heath I will share a bit of their correspondence with you from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar and India.

The Taj Mahal located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India is a white marbled mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan out of an unending and undying love for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The structure is a fine example of Mughal architecture, which combines style elements from the Persian, Islamic, Ottoman {Turkish} and Indian empires.

IMG_3283 IMG_3285The Red Fort (Agra) was the residence of the Mughal emperors of India for many centuries and is located in the center of Delhi. Built as a fortified palace and home to Shah Jahan {fifth Mughal Emperor} was named for the red sandstone used in constructing its massive walls. The Red Fort’s innovative architectural style included garden designs and pavilions reflecting the fusion of Timurid, Persian and Hindu traditions.

Stay tuned!!

Happy Fourth

IMG_2656IMG_2650Taking a leaf from the pages of my past I have been grilling hamburgers and hot dogs all afternoon to serve with homemade cole-slaw and potato salad. I remember as a child how exciting the Fourth of July was as we anxiously awaited sundown so; that we could ignite sparklers, firecrackers, Roman candles and those neighborhood dad’s who would cross state lines to purchase M-80’s made the season explosive for all the kid’s. For those of us who are not fortunate to live close to a “fireworks stand”, the Internet has made purchasing for the private consumer easier.

Today is Independence Day and to those of us who call America home, let’s come together in celebrating her 238th birthday.

Enjoy the Fourth Safely,
K
