Absolute Favorites

It’s been a rough workweek with endless meetings, deadlines that had to be met, along with weather conditions that had the mid-Atlantic under intense cloud cover with severe rain. The ground has been saturated for the past two weeks making it difficult to work in the garden.
Then all of a sudden the sun came out after weeks in hiding, and when looking out the kitchen window I noticed the peonies drooping. So, I grabbed the camera, headed outdoors to photograph these gorgeous blooms before they disappeared.  {Peonies at Heath after the rain storm}

Weekends are for relaxing so, when the invitation came for cocktails at Eddie V’s, I couldn’t travel fast enough to Tyson’s One in McLean. Seriously, who can resist cocktails and dessert.

Enjoy

When in college I did a paper on Georgia O’Keefe and while researching found her personal life to be absolutely fascinating, well she continues to not disappoint in the following article: Georgia O’Keeffe’s Younger Man. Also, the Tate Modern Museum in London will present a major retrospective of the American modernist, Georgia O’Keefe a century after her New York debut from July 6th to October 30, 2016.

Freer Sackler Gallery
If you are in the Washington DC area plan a visit to the Freer Sackler Gallery (Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art) to see the Roads to Arabia exhibit. Here you will find archaeological and historical artifacts from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These beautiful objects will be on display until February 24, 2013, a definite must see.

Grace’s Mandarin
After a busy afternoon of museum hopping or even shopping, you have to try the salt & pepper chicken wings or the pan-fried calamari from Grace’s Mandarin at the National Harbor. There is a three-story waterfall, a 33-foot Buddha and a spectacular view of the Potomac River. The décor is an exquisite red which reminds me of the shops and streets of Shanghai.

Saks Salon & Spa
Having regular facial treatments with Quy from the Saks Salon and Spa at Tysons II is a definite must. She is a fabulous aesthetician and a consummate professional. Always willing to share her beauty techniques and wisdom with all who are devoted to maintaining their complexions. My visits to the Spa are a wonderfully relaxing treat. Book your session soon!!!
