Enjoyed May

The countdown to summer is officially on, and while I don’t know where or when I’ll be taking a summer vacation, I do plan on relaxing most luxuriously and taking it easy at Heath.

1. Philips Collection on 21st Street in DC.
Up Close with Paul Cezanne until July 14, 20241.

Went back to the District of Columbia to dive into the collection Up Close with Paul Cezanne at the Philips Collection, which is there until July 14, 2024

  • Portrait of Cezanne, etching on paper, 1874 by Camille Pissarro

Cezanne and Pissarro met in Paris while in art school at the Académie Suisse in 1861. They began to paint together outdoors in the rural Oise Valley and began an intensive study of each other’s work, which included an exchange of portraits.

  • Fields of Bellevue, oil on canvas, 1892-95,
  • Ginger Pot with Pomegranate and Pears, oil on canvas, 1890-93
Claude Monet purchased this painting in 1898, four years after Cezanne visited Giverny [Monet’s home], and the picture remained in pristine condition in large part because Monet purchased it directly from the artist and displayed it in his bedroom for decades.

2. La Bouillabaisse de Pierrette at L’ Avant Garde
2915 M Street, NW Washington, DC

This traditional Provençal fish stew is one of the easiest and most satisfying meals you can make, and is always a major focus when in a French restaurant. This stew has the most scrumptious aroma especially when served with garlic bread.

3. Watching my niece and nephew have a fantastic time in Disney World

I look forward to the daily photos of the kids having a great time in Florida.

4. The barbecuing season has offically started…… love the summer season!!!

Stay stylish,
Kathleen
