La Biennale di Venezia

From the hotel rooftop one can see Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio {St. Mary of the Lily} one of the finest representations of Venetian Baroque architecture on the Campo Santa Maria Zobenigo. The church illuminated in the background of this cityscape projects the most beautiful mystical aura.

The underwater fantasy exhibition {Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable} includes a golden bust reminiscent of the Ife art of the Yoruba people in southwestern Nigeria and Quetzalcoatl the “feathered serpent” Aztec god of the nocturnal sky. All this fabulous gold has been found from the bottom of the artistic sea to be displayed in Venice.

Venetian Style

This year’s Venice Biennale artist Lorenzo Quinn created a sculpture of two hands arising from the city’s famous Grand Canal called Support, as a harrowing reminder of the rising sea levels caused by climate change. Support will be on display until November 26th at the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, Campo Santo Sofia.

After a day of sightseeing there is nothing like checking into a quaint spot for cocktail hour, sipping on a deliciously cold martini’s at Ristorante La Caravella on Calle Larga, near Piazza San Marco, and has the decor reminiscent of a ship {which is so Venetian}. Next, it’s off to Trattoria Alla Madonna for a dinner of risotto, lobsters, and red wine…. è delizioso.
