Happy Spring

IMG_1302{Hellebores from the wooded area of Heath}

This is such a beautiful time of the year, which had me reminiscing of Easter rituals from the past. I recall my sister and I receiving live baby chicks that were artificially dyed in pastels colors that were handed out from school. Eggs were brightly colored then placed into large woven baskets with chocolate eggs and an extremely long eared rabbit, sometimes toys were added and then given as gifts to various charities.

Mom would prep food before church and once home relatives began to arrive for the family gatherings to end all gatherings.

With love and hope,

Orchid in Bloom

IMG_3377 IMG_3373Orchidaeae is a flowering plant that is very colorful and often fragrant; a perennial herb that lacks a permanent woody structure.

It has been unseasonably warm here in the mid-Atlantic with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s, and while I am secretly hoping that winter is over, one can never be sure when a cold front will move back throughout the area. With spring just a few weeks away, I love meandering around Heath viewing seasonal blooms, but this orchid took me completely by surprise. I bought the plant a year ago for a few dollars at a market, brought it home, cared for it then nothing…. until now. Look at these gorgeous flowers!
