Its that time of year to focus on the gardens at Heath so, I took off Friday afternoon and headed to Williams Greenhouse in Cascades, Virginia. This is a family owned nursery that is one of the best-kept secrets this side of the mountains. People who have lived in the area for years are not aware of this hidden gem, as it is a secret passed down from mother to daughter or one true gardener to another.

When did you last have a few minutes to yourself with time to do absolutely nothing? My plan for today was to finish clearing the garden of crops that did not survive the deer infestation of the last few weeks, but instead decided to wallow in the cool morning air and relax. Upon awakening this morning I opened all the windows and sliding doors in the living area of the house, which brought in the freshest air possible, all I wanted to do was snuggle on the sofa with the softest throw, listen to the smooth jazz station on “Music Choice” and drink coffee.
While resting I was able to see recently purchased mums and petunias on the deck table, trying to decide where to plant these colorful flowers. They may appear welcoming on the front porch with pumpkins to lend a bit of festivity before the first frost.
