The Beauty of Spring

For me, beauty is a huge source of my happiness, I am always inspired by a passion for uniqueness, whether it is a sunset after a storm or the first buds of peonies, my eye can zero in on objects long before others begin to even notice the natural or creative presence within an item. Flowers are an integral part of our home, vases are interspersed on tables with fresh cuttings from the garden.

And when the opportunity arises it is imperative to take in a glorious sunset, which it is the perfect way to relax at the end of the day. This photograph taken by family friend C. Kelley in Lake Anne after a severe storm the other day was too beautiful to resist…..the sky is sheer perfection. Lastly, who can resist a delicious dessert for an after dinner treat, I just had to stop by the bakery for a chocolate cake to end the evening after a most tying days at work.

Always look for those combinations of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases your aesthetic senses and you will be surrounded by beauty!

And remember to stay stylish,
K

Weekend Reprieve

img_6463{This lobster ravioli from Ladurée in Soho was absolutely delicious, and I feel compelled to recreate this dish over a weekend from the kitchens of Heath}

Most weekends, I enjoy the ritual of walking in early evening to clear my thoughts after a hectic week. Work can be overwhelming when managing a department of opinionated librarians; attending meetings every few hours, which usually end up being facilitated by me, all while keeping up with text and emails

Scheduling time into a busy day to relax seems counter-intuitive with so much to do from 7-4, which is why it is imperative that I head back to Heath each evening in order to recharge.

I look forward to cooking each night….. yes, I really do; the chopping, choosing herbs to help flavor various meals and sautéing. Somehow the pressures of the day melt away and unwinding in the kitchen with a glass of wine with all four burners “bubbling and squeaking” is definitely the best way to start the evening and most definitely the weekend!!!

Cook and relax stylishly,
K
