Autumn Pastel Sunsets

I wanted to share one last fabulous fall sunset with colors of the sky that were a gorgeous pastel for autumn. The sky was alive with a glowing Hunter’s Moon last night and each full moon has a name. According to skylore the Hunter’s Moon is the full moon after the Harvest Moon of September.

The colors of the “awesome sunset” I posted on October 8th had beautiful reds, oranges, gold and pinks against the twilight sky. These colors are similar to those you see in a desert or the tropics. But, last night the spectrum of colors presented an alternative wavelength in soft colors along with the role of the clouds. The clouds seem to catch the last few rays of sunlight and produced another vivid sunset in a Rothko-esque fashion.

Freer Sackler Gallery
If you are in the Washington DC area plan a visit to the Freer Sackler Gallery (Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art) to see the Roads to Arabia exhibit. Here you will find archaeological and historical artifacts from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These beautiful objects will be on display until February 24, 2013, a definite must see.

Grace’s Mandarin
After a busy afternoon of museum hopping or even shopping, you have to try the salt & pepper chicken wings or the pan-fried calamari from Grace’s Mandarin at the National Harbor. There is a three-story waterfall, a 33-foot Buddha and a spectacular view of the Potomac River. The décor is an exquisite red which reminds me of the shops and streets of Shanghai.
