la Venezia

Several of our team traversed to Venice for one last visit before the end of the summer. Their itinerary was packed, time limited so, the schedule had to be extremely focused.

Day 1

    • Starting with Punta Della Dogana exhibitions to see ‘Luogo e Segni’, curated by Martin Bethenod, Director of Palazzo Grassi
    • Rialto and St. Marks

Day 2

    • La Biennale di Venezia the 58thInternational Art Exhibition entitled: May You Live in Interesting Times curated by Ralph Rugoff.
    • Biennale Giardini and Arsenale

Day 3

    • Peggy Guggenheim Collection
      One of the most important museums in Itlay for European and American art.for the first half of the 20th century.
    • yatzer
      The 6th edition of Glasstress conceived by Adriano Berengo, brings together a selection of international artists and designers who have collaborated with Murano traditional glassmakers showcasing endless creative possibilities of glass.
    • DYSFUNCTIONAL
      A new way to think about art, and where art is that which an artist makes. Art is not born into a specific category, it is oblivious to categories. An artist can leap between modes and media as they see fit.

Todos Santos

Todos Santos is a 50 minute drive from Cabo San Lucas, and a less crowded way to explore the Baja Coast. The Trans-peninsular Highway {Federal Highway 1} goes from Baja Sur in the south to Tijuana in the north, and the best thing since our last visit is the roadway has been enlarged, it is now a four lane highway. When there are goats, cows, and horses crossing a street at any given moment, you feel a bit more secure knowing you can see the critters before they run across a busy highway.

Todos Santos is a small coastal town in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. There are many shops of handcrafted items and art galleries that feature landscape paintings and sculptures of the local scene. Hotels, restored colonial buildings and restaurants give the town a unique look. The Hotel California is a popular spot to stay and to eat, but we prefer the ambiance and food at Tequila Sunrise across the street.

Lunch was “Shrimps Chiles Rellenos” and “Chicken Mole” with several of their Margarita’s made with Agave Tequila, Orange Liqueur, Damiana Liqueur and key limes…..YES!!!

After lunch we shopped for jewelry across the street, and the merchant shared his tequila with us “Orendain Crema de Almendrado Liqueur, Mexico”, which was a deliciously smooth almond liqueur; with notes of tequila and almond. Served cold on such a hot day was very elegant.
