IMG_0904The New Year is off to a chilling start here in the Mid Atlantic; the air has been extremely crisp along with a bit of ice and snow after such a cloudy and rainy fall. The fireplace is in constant use, everyone is bundled in very soft sweaters and I love when the weather is in the single digits, which gives me the option of working from home and working in the kitchen cooking up delicious hot soups and stews or baking a savory pie to warm the hearth.

When time allows there is nothing like snuggling up with a copy of Paris Vogue and nibbling on a few chocolates from La Maison du Chocolat and perusing the spring/summer fashions or just planning the Heath gardens with colors seen from the elegant fashion magazines…talk about inspiration at its finest!!!

Enjoy,

Crème brûlée is always a welcome treat when the weather is not cooperating. It is comfort food at its simplest!

What better way to end the holiday weekend than with a few stylish favorites? I love discovering bits of new information from friends, reading or through shear observation, and then sharing these delightful tidbits on Stylish Heath. But, when one travels to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the holiday weekend, like our on the spot reporter Tony, what does one do when they arrive during the rainy season and cloud cover prevails? Well the next best thing of course…head to the nearest bakeries and patisseries along the shores of Ipanema and Copacabana in search of the best treats. Crème brûlée and tarts always hit the spot when the option for sun-bathing at the beach has been rained out.

Part one of the portrait of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, China’s most famous dissident, places flowers in the basket of a bike parked outside his home and will continue to do so until his passport is returned by the Chinese Government. When he was arrested in 2011 and held for 81 days without charge, this sparked global protest. With his passport confiscated Ai currently detained in China works under restricted conditions.
