Summer Adventures

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy …. NOT.!! Lately, life has been a whirlwind of events, workshops and chores. It is taking every ounce of strength to make it from one day to the next. In the community kids are out of school, most of the neighborhood is dark as families are on holiday, and co-workers are basking in resorts along the mid-Atlantic coast.

Time is not a luxury I can afford so, I have begun to plan day and/or weekend trips to relax and clear my mind of daily task over the summer. My birthday is this weekend so, a planned trip to NYC is in order. More information will be forthcoming, but let me share what has been taking place on previous weekends this month around Washington, DC.

Lunch with family and friends {Maria and me} a few weeks back at Joe’s Seafood on 15th Street, after a morning in The National Museum of African American History and Culture.
When relaxing, food is always a high priority so, when sightseeing it is imperative to stop for a few hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine or martini.

The National Air and Space Museum hosted a brief exhibition to celebrate the 50thanniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s film, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Simon Birch a Hong Kong based British artist designed the Barmecide Feast using drawings from the detailed original set. Truly, this was a most surreal environment that had been depicted in the film and setup for the public to view.

Well, I am off to pack, as I must be up early for trip to New York City in the morning!!!

Stay stylish,
K

  1. Happy summer, Kathleen . Be ready for the heat and humidity here in New York City . I just got back from another trip to Las Vegas . Never thought I would say that I’d rather have 105 plus heat and no humidity of Las Vegas , rather than the 87 degrees with 93% humidity of New York City . Have a safe trip

    1. Our trip to NYC was absolutely wonderful, and as you indicated the city was extremely hot and humid. We did a lot of walking and would stop frequently for a drink and/or snack.
And, I have been thinking of a return trip to Las Vegas.
