One travels to get away from the drudgery of the ordinary and to be rerouted back to a reasonable level of tranquility or complete relaxation. But, for the last five days I have been in Venezia, capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, which is a series of small islands in a lagoon off the Adriatic Sea. The Grand Canal meanders throughout the city with its narrow streets and small squares creating a maze-like quality of confusion while walking.
Getting lost is the best part of checking where you have ended up only to learn something new and fascinating about the city, such as discovering a shop that sells the best “biscotti e dolci” {cookies and sweets} or finding another gallery with fabulous artwork on display. The 15th International Architecture Exhibition- la Biennale di Venezia 2016: Reporting from the Front is being held until November 27th, this exhibition is open in the Giardini and Arsenale venues of the town.
