Summer Break

IMG_1975IMG_1924 I’m in Delaware with family for a few days at the shore, and whenever we come to the coast the first order of business is catching fresh food from the sea or bay for dinner. Once you have eaten fresh fish, crabs or clams from the Atlantic, you definitely forgo the desire to eat in crowded and overstuffed restaurants.

IMG_2315 IMG_2033 IMG_2034 My brothers Paul and Sean, along with Captain Bill have set the crab traps on the bay floor, while my niece Shana and her son Cortez have found clams in a sandbar. This is all done very early in the morning so, that we have the entire day for fishing, relaxing at the beach or shopping.

IMG_2296 IMG_2297Then at the end of the day, we go back to the traps and et viola a delicious meal awaits. The family must work together in order to retrieve the catch from the ocean floor.

IMG_1999The crabs from Delaware have the sweetest and most succulent flavor; now I know  your thinking that Maryland crabs reign supreme, but these tasty morsels were unbelievably fabulous, definitely worth the trip!

Bon appétit,
K
